Indigodeco - The art of business

Draken is a district under development that stretches across Brunkebergsåsen in the middle of Stockholm city from the castle up to st Johanneskyrkan. Regeringsgatan parallel to Malmskillnadsgatan. The curious thing about the ridge's name, the Dragon, is as follows: 

On October 10, 1471, the Battle of Brunkeberg was fought on what is now Norrmalm in Stockholm, between Christian Tyrann, King Christian 1 of Denmark and the Swedish regent Sten Sture. King Kristian had a well-equipped army of about 6,000 men when he captured Stockholm, and Sten Sture had an army of about 9,000 men. It was a bloody battle and when Kristian Tyrann was killed it was said that the dragon fell.

About 100 years ago, och Kungsgatan was excavated through Brunkebergsåsen, and it was said then that they beheaded the Dragon. 

This area and particular parts of Malmskillnadsgatan is a neighborhood that has a bad reputation as not having much life. It is a fairly dead part of the city that urban planning in the southern part has tried to bring to life with a pedestrian street and restaurants. 

I myself have lived in the area (Johannesgatan behind the fire station) for 12 years and know every nook and cranny. I have developed a multitude of improvement opportunities and am therefore currently in talks with the responsible urban planner for the area, as the area, the whole ridge, Draken has enormous potential. What is being discussed right now is the possibility and improvements to shut down traffic on the ridge. This is in good line with the prevailing environmental party's desire for fewer cars and more pedestrian streets in the inner city, and something that fits well with Brunkebergsåsen in particular, in that no cars need to use this area. You get from point A to B just as easily through the parallel streets Birger Jarlsgatan or and Sveavägen and don't actually have to drive up the mountain. Right now empty premises are gaping on the northern part of both Malmskillnadsgatan and Regeringsgatan and the idea is that here there will be pedestrian streets with flower boxes, benches, restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries, beauty salons, hairdressers, art galleries, etc. for pedestrians, cyclists and electric scooter riders. 

The idea is also to use the area's dead surfaces for art and street art. For example, the "Palmetrappan" whose escalator and elevator are vandalized daily. Art and benches here would lead to more people in the rullians and on site, which would discourage vandals from staying here.
